Despite the best of intentions, it can be difficult for families to get together for play dates.   Sr. Jeannie Humphries and Ms. Karen Martin of the Lower School have tried to facilitate socialization outside of formal school events by running afterschool get togethers for Cooke Level III families approximately once per month.  These get togethers offer parents and students the opportunity to socialize in a relaxed setting.

As parents unwind from a busy day and chat with one another, the children have the opportunity to play in a more unstructured setting than during the typical school day and get to practice their social skills outside of the classroom.  Ms. Martin explained, "It is wonderful to see the children interacting with each other. There are a variety of games and activities that we provide but the children also come up with their own activities, such as creating a play and putting on a "performance" for the parents, which was adorable."
